Tesla has submitted plans for a new EV charging station in Peterborough, aiming to support the growing demand for electric vehicles in the area
Peterborough: Tesla is looking to set up a new EV charging station in the Orton Goldhay area. This facility will have 16 parking bays and dedicated charging posts.
They plan to make it easy to access from Paxton Road, which already has a Starbucks and a petrol station. The design aims to blend in with the area, keeping it visually appealing.
These charging stations are part of a bigger push for electric vehicles. The UK wants to hit net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and EVs are a big part of that plan.
In 2023, nearly 18% of new cars in the UK were fully electric. But the number of public charging points has barely changed, with just over 62,000 available.
Peterborough City Council is on board with this initiative. They declared a climate emergency back in 2019 and are keen to support more EV infrastructure.
Now, we just have to wait for the decision on Tesla’s plans.
