Chester: Enterprise Rent-a-Car is setting its sights on a new location. They’ve put in a planning application to transform the old Vehicles For Leisure site on Dunkirk Way. This move could create new jobs and help local suppliers.

If the plans get the green light, they’ll tear down the old canopy from the former motorhome dealership. They also want to extend the existing building and add a vehicle wash bay. The proposal mentions six full-time jobs, with the chance for more down the line.

Enterprise is a big player, with over 9,500 locations worldwide. They’re one of the largest transportation companies out there. A letter from them highlights that this development will help their business grow sustainably. Plus, it offers a transport option for locals, reducing the need for private cars.

The plans include using the two current access points from Dunkirk Way, along with existing parking and storage areas. They’re looking at around 37 parking spaces and dedicated pick-up and drop-off lanes.

For the site to run smoothly, they expect about 90% of their rental vehicles to be out and about at any given time. The letter also mentions that this project will benefit local businesses, too.

They see this as a significant investment in a vacant brownfield site. More investment will flow into the area through suppliers and service partners, as well as from Enterprise’s employees and customers.
