Cambridge: A teenager is in trouble for allegedly stealing some quirky streetlamps. These aren’t just any lamps; they’re unique 1950s designs. People in the area were shocked when they noticed the lights missing.

The local police got reports about the thefts in October. They said three lamps went missing on different dates. A 19-year-old from Barkway, near Royston, has been arrested. He’s now out on bail until April.

These tubular lights were designed by Sir Albert Edward Richardson. They’re a special part of Cambridge’s history. In fact, it’s the last city in the UK with these custom lights from the post-war era.

Locals think the lamps’ unique look made them easy targets. One lamp was taken from outside The Fitzwilliam Museum. Another was snatched from near St John’s College, and the last one was next to Little St Mary’s Church.

Police mentioned they received reports about the thefts on specific dates. The first was on October 3, then another on October 8, and the last one on October 24. It’s a strange situation that has left many scratching their heads.
