Cambridgeshire braces for Storm Éowyn with a 22-hour rain warning from the Met Office, affecting several towns and raising flood concerns.
Cambridgeshire: The Met Office has put out a weather warning for rain. Storm Éowyn is on its way, and it’s expected to hit hard.
This yellow warning starts at 8am on Sunday and lasts until 6am on Monday. It covers a big chunk of Cambridgeshire, including places like Cambridge and Peterborough.
They’re saying there’s a chance of flooding in homes and businesses. Power cuts could happen too, along with delays for trains and buses.
Storm Éowyn is set to bring some wild weather. Gusts could reach up to 100mph in certain areas. Scotland and Northern Ireland are already under a red warning.
The Met Office mentioned that heavy rain will likely hit central and southern England, plus much of Wales on Sunday morning. After that, we might see some thundery showers.
They expect about 10-20 mm of rain, but some high spots could get 30-50 mm. If more heavy rain comes in Sunday evening, we could see totals hit 80 mm.
With all the rain we’ve had lately, this could lead to local flooding. So, it’s best to stay alert and prepared.
