A masked teenager, 15, was sentenced for robbing two stores at knifepoint in Hartford. He threatened staff and fled with cash before being caught by police.
On September 18, he entered Hartford Stores at 6:25 AM. He pulled out a knife and demanded money from the staff. The employee locked himself in a back room while the boy climbed over the counter.
He stole between £200 and £300 in cash. After that, he took a taxi to Somersham. At 9:10 AM, he entered the Post Office and threatened two staff members with the knife.
CCTV showed him leaning over the counter, waving the knife. One worker threw a display cabinet at him, causing him to fall back. He ran out empty-handed.
Police were alerted and searched the area. Using a drone, they found him hiding in a bush. He was still wearing the same clothes from the CCTV footage.
At Peterborough Crown Court, he received a 30-month sentence in a young offenders institute. He pleaded guilty to robbery, attempted robbery, and possession of a knife.
PC Samantha Chapman from the Southern Acquisitive Crime Team expressed concern over the boy’s actions. She emphasized that such violent behavior will not be tolerated in Cambridgeshire.
