Grantham: Two men were arrested for violent disorder and attending a hare coursing event. They were taken into custody on January 31.

The suspects are a 26-year-old from Grantham and an 18-year-old from Spalding. Police started investigating after receiving complaints about hare coursing, criminal damage, and dangerous driving on January 25.

Reports came from several areas, including Fordham, Ely, and Chatteris. Police are asking the public for help in identifying others involved.

Cambridgeshire Police updated that both men have been bailed. They must return to Thorpe Wood Police Station later.

Their bail conditions include not being around dogs on private land without permission. If they have a dog, it must be on a lead.

They also can’t be in a vehicle with a dog outside a five-mile radius of home, unless it’s for a vet appointment. Other conditions include not using catapults or air weapons and not driving onto private fields without permission.

Additionally, they can’t use public spaces for hare coursing or intimidate anyone in 12 counties, including Cambridgeshire and Essex.

Chief Constable Nick Dean acknowledged the impact of the events on the community. He assured that a dedicated team is working hard to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
