Someone wanted to build houses in a village. This developer, Hereward Homes, is based in Rutland. They planned twenty-four stone houses, to sit north of Peakirk Road, on what is currently farmland.

The plan included different sized houses: two, three, four, and five-bedroom houses. The developers claimed the project would not hurt anyone and that it met parking standards. They also stated that no heritage sites faced harm.

But the council said no to building. Their reason: the development hurts the village edge. They stated that new houses would encroach on farmland and harm the village look.

The council felt it clashed with Peakirk Road; the new houses seemed out of place. Height and layout were issues, and the style appeared strange for that street.

Others objected to the house plans too, including Anglian Water who cited sewer problems and argued that the current system cannot handle more waste, raising pollution concerns. Highway officials also disagreed, needing more impact info. The developer has six months to appeal.
