Motorists using Mill Road bridge will soon receive warning notices. Fines for non-compliance will begin next month as part of a phased bus gate restriction.
Cambridge: Starting this week, drivers on Mill Road bridge will get warning notices. Fines will kick in next month. This is part of a new bus gate rule.
The new traffic rule has been in place since December. But until the end of January, it was just a warning period. No fines were given during this time.
From February 3, drivers of non-exempt vehicles will start receiving warning notices. If you have an exempt vehicle, make sure to register online.
Councillor Neil Shailer from the council said they wanted to give everyone time to adjust. They’ve already reached out to over 360 local care providers about exemptions for care workers.
Exempt vehicles, like those with blue badges, need to register through the council’s website. This way, they can avoid fines while using the bridge.
