A Cambridge man, Philip Sheath, attempted to stab his neighbor with a knife during a dispute, leading to serious injuries and a lengthy prison sentence.
When the neighbor, a man in his 60s, went to complain, Sheath opened his door. He then lunged at the neighbor with a seven-inch knife, shouting threats. The neighbor fell back and hit his head on the concrete.
Sheath didn’t stab him fully, but he did cause some cuts. He was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison. He also received a 10-year restraining order to keep away from the victim.
After the attack, Sheath called 999 and admitted to the stabbing. His wife pulled him away just in time, realizing he was hurt only when they got home.
Sheath told the police he was sober and not mentally ill. He stayed on the call until officers arrived and even pointed out the knife.
Detective Sergeant Christian Jackman noted that this incident was sudden and unprovoked. The victim suffered serious injuries but thankfully survived.
