A man showed up at his ex’s workplace with a metal pole, causing panic among staff and leading to his arrest.
When he found out she wasn’t around, he left, but not before the police were called. Turns out, Sliwinski had been harassing her since she ended their 14-year relationship just two months prior.
The victim had finally found the courage to leave after years of physical and emotional abuse. She told the police that during fights, he would choke her, but she often managed to escape because he was usually drunk.
He isolated her from friends and family, and when she did go out, he bombarded her with calls and texts, accusing her of cheating. He even threw glasses at her and threatened her and her dog.
After their breakup, he didn’t stop. He sent her threatening messages, including a photo of his wrist, saying he’d harm himself if she didn’t return.
Sliwinski pleaded guilty to several charges, including coercive behavior and threats to kill. He was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison and received a five-year restraining order.
Detective Childs, who looked into the case, said Sliwinski’s actions left his ex terrified. She was afraid to go home from work. No one should feel that way. He hopes she can find some closure now.
