Edinburgh Council is thinking about leaving X. X used to be called Twitter. Council members voted to explore leaving. Some UK councils already left X. Leaving could make city services harder to access.

A council member, Chas Booth, proposed the motion. He thinks X is abusive and lawless right now. He said its owner seems like a fascist. He believes the council should not support that.

Council officers must write a report. It will show options for leaving X. The report will have a timeline for leaving too. Officers will ask if people will interact without X. The council has over 80 accounts on X. One is @edinhelp where people complain.

Kevin Lang said many leaders still use X. He pointed out the Greens want to quit, yet, one of their leaders still uses it. He said the SNP backs the motion. Even their leader uses X.

The Labour party also wants leaders to stop. But, two of their leaders still use X. Lang feels it is not a priority. He thinks housing and climate are more vital. He does not want officers wasting time.

The report is due in mid-March. Council members should think about stopping their X use. The council is thinking about other social media too. They want to look at all their accounts.

Booth is happy his motion passed. He is thankful for SNP and Labour support. He knows leaving X is hard. He says with 80 accounts, it will take time. He believes it is the right choice.
