Cambridge: A new community hub has opened at Orchard Park. Charities are excited about it. They believe it will help people access support more easily.

The Core community center was launched by students from Orchard Park Community Primary School. They cut the ribbon on January 30. The hub is located on the school grounds.

This space is available for charities and community groups. It will host various courses, including English classes for adults. Janice Fuller, the chair of governors, expressed pride in the school’s role in the community.

She mentioned that the school has been a community center since it opened in 2007. The new hub will support parents, community groups, and health workers. It aims to promote education and social events.

Janice also noted that Orchard Park is still developing. Local facilities need to grow to support the community. She hopes the hub will host many events and opportunities for residents.

Councillor Bryony Goodliffe praised the hub as a beautiful space. She believes it will be a vital resource for both the school and the community. Several charities attended the opening and shared their hopes for the new facility.

Maria David from the Red Hen Project expressed excitement about the hub. She believes it will help families feel comfortable asking for support. The charity often struggles to find venues for meetings.

Anita Gatt from Blue Smile shared how the hub will benefit children. They currently see about ten children from the school each week. The space will help them provide better support.

Vera Kladi, an education mental health practitioner, is also looking forward to using the hub. She believes it will improve access to essential services for children.
