Chester: A couple recently appeared on Channel 4’s Love It or List It. They live in a chilly three-bedroom home. The husband wanted to sell, but his wife had other ideas.

The show features property experts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer. They help homeowners decide whether to renovate or move. In this episode, Carl and Katy were the stars.

Carl, from Stoke-on-Trent, and Katy, from North Wales, found Chester a great middle ground. But Carl felt their home was too cold. He said working from home was “miserable.”

They bought the house seven years ago and have two kids. Carl was ready to sell, but Katy loved their home. She cherished the memories they made there.

Kirstie jumped in with renovation plans. She wanted to make the house more comfortable for their growing family. She proposed a loft extension and a new wall to block drafts.

The renovation cost £75,000 and took nine months. Meanwhile, Phil showed them other properties in the area. Katy wasn’t impressed with the first two options.

But the third house caught their eye. It had stunning views and plenty of space. Still, when it came time to decide, they chose to stay.

Kirstie joked that Katy had won the argument. Carl explained they put so much effort into their home. Now it felt just right.

Before the renovation, their home was worth £335,000. Now, it’s valued at £463,000. They made a smart investment, according to Kirstie.
