A bus driver in Cambridgeshire took action to shield a young girl from potential predators, showcasing the importance of community safety.
Stagecoach East is part of a program called Businesses Against Abuse. They aim to make buses safe havens for anyone feeling threatened.
The police and local support groups are also involved. Drivers are trained to spot vulnerable people and know how to help them.
If a driver sees someone in distress, they can stop and check if they need assistance. They can even take them to a safe spot along their route.
Darren Roe, the managing director, shared that one driver successfully intervened to keep a girl safe from predators. One of the suspects was arrested after the incident.
He mentioned that drivers have already helped many women feel safe. The message is clear: buses are safe places.
Roe encourages anyone feeling threatened to reach out to the driver. All buses are equipped with cameras to document any incidents of abuse.
