A burglar in Peterborough was caught after waking up his victim and leaving DNA on a vape. Andrew Jenkins, 44, has been sentenced to over two years in prison.
The victim woke up and confronted Jenkins. He claimed he was looking for a friend. But the victim found stolen items in Jenkins’ jacket, including a phone, a wallet with cash, and car keys.
Jenkins tried to escape but left behind a vape. Police found his DNA on it. CCTV footage showed him trying to break into another flat and stealing from a car.
Jenkins, from Dogsthorpe, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison. He pleaded guilty to burglary, attempted burglary, theft, and vehicle interference.
Police are pleased with the outcome. They emphasize that burglary is a priority and will continue to pursue offenders.
